Welcome to the Linux Lessons site
I've been using Linux for about 3 years now and I've learned a lot along the way. I've set up this site in order to share some of the things I've learned that have helped me out. Linux is becoming more and more popular and more people need help with the unfamiliar environment. I hope that it helps.
Because Kubuntu is the distribution of Linux that I use, most of the lessons and articles will be about Kubuntu (which is good because Kubuntu often gets overshadowed by it's brother, Ubuntu).
About the site
I've tried to make this site as useful as possible. Here are some of the features that are included.
Screenshot Expander
In some of the lessons, there will be screenshots. If you have Javascript enabled (most browsers do), the screenshot will enlarge itself when you hover over it with the mouse. You can also click on it to have it open in a new page. (see the example screenshot to the right).
Graphics/Command Line Tabs
Linux is becoming more user friendly, which means that more thinks can be done through a graphical interface. Unfortunately, not many help sites use these new graphic capabilities. To help with this, I've included instructions for the Graphic Interface as well as the Command Line (for those who like to do things that way). If you have Javascript enabled (most browsers do), you can click on the tab to switch between the two methods. (Note: if you don't have Javascript enabled, then both methods will just display on the screen, one after the other.
Below is an example of how the tabs work.
Command Line
Command line stuff is generally preferred by veteran Linux users because it's generally faster
Graphical User Interface
The graphical user interface (GUI) is generally preferred by those who are new to Linux and used to interfaces like Windows and Mac.
Comments
I've also included a comments section in each lesson. Please leave comments that are useful and pertain to the lesson at hand. I reserve the right to delete comments that I find disagreeable or of no use.
