Alyssa's Thoughts
Okay, this is probably the most clever CD title I ever came up with. The song "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds ultimately had to be cut from this CD. I was really upset that there wasn't enough room for it on the CD. It would have been perfect for the Rain theme because the chorus repeats the line "Rain keeps falling" a lot. So, this song is truly the song that got away from the songs that got away.
Some other songs that got away from the songs that got away: Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream," The Hooter's "And We Danced," The Beatle's "Little Child" (dancing), The Mamas and the Papa's "Twelve Thirty," and Yes's "Sweetness" (food).
Grrr! I just realized I didn't put Death By Chocolate's "The Land of Chocolate" on this CD. I bought that album specifically to put that track on this CD. I'm so mad!
(Sigh.) Anyway, the only past themes that I didn't have a song for were: Space (my original CD was so perfect that no song got away, j/k) and Rebellion (just couldn't really think of anything for that one).
Oh, and you'll notice that I even managed to get my three pet artists onto this CD as well. :)
By the way, I think it's really hilarious that the one repeat both Chris and I put on our CD was "These Boots Are Made For Walking," which works for the Walk CD---the theme for which we, to date, had the most repeats for. :)
The following is a list of all the tracks and which theme they belong to:

Chris's Thoughts
This was a fun CD to do. When we do the CDs there are always songs that work with the theme, but just don't fit. I got to include some of those songs.
Another reason for this CD is that some really great songs never occur to you when making the CD, but seem like an obvious addition.
This CD is also a chance to include songs that I recently got, but would have worked on a previous CD.
"Rocket Man" is actually a song that got away from Alyssa's Space CD. It's a song created completely from musicians found in classified ads on an episode of This American Life.
"Raspberry Heaven" is the closing theme to the Japanese Anime series "Azumanga Daioh." The series itself is kind of bizzare but the closing theme is even more so. I mean, come on, "Raspberry Heaven"?
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was a perfect fit for tonight, but try as I might, I couldn't find this version (used in the closing credits of Rainforest the IMAX movie). So I included other versions, but found this later.
Here's a list of what songs fit with what previous CDs:
- Rocket Man - Space
- Jupiter - Space
- Raspberry Heaven - Songs that Make Me Think of You (also Food)
- Brandy - Word of Wisdom
- These Boots Are Made For Walking - Walk
- Himawari - Foreign Language
- Accidentally Kelly Street - Happy Sad
- Bop - Dance
- Save the Last Dance for Me - Dance
- The Lion Sleeps Tonight - Night/Tonight
- My Way - Possession
- I Missed the Bus - Driving
- Morning Edition Theme - Driving
- Never Ending Story - Time (also Cars)
- No Time - Time
- King of Spain - Food
- Imitation of Life - Food
- I'll Never Get Over You - Hello/Goodbye
- I Fought the Law - Rebellion and Ennui
- California Sun - Anniversary (also Dance)
- Sanding Outside a Phone Booth - Money
